Under the Representation of the People Act 1983, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils have a duty to divide their areas into polling districts and to designate a polling place for each polling district. The District Councils also have a duty under the Electoral Administration Act 2006, as amended, to review their polling districts and places at least once every five years. The next compulsory review will be undertaken from Friday 6 October 2023, and conclude on Thursday 30 November 2023. The detailed timetable for the review is set out below:

The polling places should be accessible as possible to all electors, including those who are disabled, and when considering the designation of a polling place, must have regard to the accessibility needs of disabled persons. You are invited to make comments on the existing and any proposed arrangements particularly where there are proposals for change. We are consulting all Town and Parish Councils, District and County Councillors, Members of Parliament and political parties that are active in either District. We would appreciate your comments by 30 November 2023, and shall be taking proposals to the Councils between 23 and 25 January 2024.
You will also be able to view and comment on the Returning Officer recommendations. If you would like to view more information regarding the review, please use the following link:
