Phone scam: We have reports that residents have been receiving telephone calls from individuals claiming that they need to visit the property to inspect their loft insulation, so that they can supply a certificate as part of a "Government Scheme". The caller advised that a moisture test was required and then a new certificate would be issued and sent via Recorded Delivery. One report advises that the caller indicated that they were vising properties in Kesgrave. The resident was aware of similar scam calls after hearing Suffolk Trading Standards on BBC Radio Suffolk. Always be wary of any approach made in a telephone cold call.

Smoke fish: The Food Standards Agency are advising pregnant women and those with a weakened immune system to avoid eating ready-to-eat cold-smoked or cured fish products. These products include:
Smoked salmon
Smoked trout
Gravlax
Ready-to-eat cold-smoked fish typically comes in thin slices, is normally labelled as ‘smoked’ fish on packaging and it can be eaten cold. You may see it served in sandwiches, sushi, or vol-au-vents. As the risk of serious illness from listeriosis increases with age, older people should also be aware of the risk of eating cold-smoked and cured fish. Listeriosis is rare, and most people will have no symptoms, or flu-like symptoms that are mild and self-resolving. However, certain people have a higher risk of becoming seriously ill with listeriosis.
