The Good
- People rallying round to help each other (our wonderful volunteer network has hardly been needed so far as family, friends and neighbours help out with shopping, prescriptions and even gardening)
- The Clap for Carers (much noisier in the middle of the village but we still do our bit)
- The shopkeepers and shopworkers in Eye and elsewhere keeping going and running themselves ragged with deliveries to keep us fed (maybe even overfed)
- Chatting to people (from a distance) when out dog walking
- Realising the hour of exercise a day wasn’t compulsory – phew
- The quiet roads, with dog walkers, cyclists and horses riders safely taking their exercise (mostly)
- The quiet
- The postmen, the delivery drivers, the rubbish collectors, the nurses, the police, the fire brigade, the carers etc, etc – everyone who is carrying on keeping it all going
- The individuals who brighten up our days with acts of kindness or bits of silliness
- Pub takeaways
- The marvellous Colonel Tom Moore
The Bad
- All those cancelled events on the Doorstep Green and at the Red Feather Club
- Pubs and restaurants being shut (you don’t realise how much you miss them until you can’t go to one)
- Not being able to visit mum (dropping off food and essentials and phone calls are just not the same)
- Not having a proper VE-Day celebration
- Charities worried about their futures
- No chippie or Chinese takeaway
- So many people needing food banks
The Ugly
- Horham Post Office having bread and newspapers nicked
- A freezer in an outbuilding in Cranley being raided
- A few idiots driving and riding at ridiculous speeds and in the middle of the road
- The number of robberies and attempted robberies at POs & convenience stores
- The scammers and the feral few who prey on anyone they can
