The latest 95th Bomb Group reunion tour to Horham included the now annual trip to the Redlingfield Memorial to place a wreath. The US visitors, who made a stop at the memorial on Saturday May 12th as part of a tour of various part of the airfield, got a surprise with the unveiling of a new information board detailing the crash and crew and a map of other local sights. The board was unveiled by WW2 veterans S/Sgt Robert Fay, a ball turrent gunner, and S/Sgt Benjamin Roujansky, a radio operator. Although the public parts of the 30-plus Americans’ visit was cancelled as the field used for car parking at the Red Feather Club was too wet for vehicles they still enjoyed a full programme of events. A highlight was the unveiling of a new Roll of Honour at the Red Feather Club commemorating and naming the 622 men of the 95th who lost their lives during WW2, including the last B-17 shot down over Europe, which was lost off the Suffolk coast on a food run to Holland.
