“Two heroic spade-wielding gentlemen” were thanked on the letters pages of the local papers for rescuing “four ladies who inadvertently found themselves upside down in a ditch between Eye and Redlingfield” in February. One of the gents who dug out and then rescued the quartet from a ditch near Kiln Farm in Redlingfield was Russell Kerry. Fire, police and ambulance were all called but Russell, and another unknown helper, rescued the ladies who had become trapped in the car by their seatbelts. Well done Russell.
