A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal road traffic collision on the A140 in Wetheringsett. Police were called at just after 10pm on Monday 28 November to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a car at Brockford Street. Ambulance and Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service crews, along with a critical care paramedic from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) were also in attendance. The car – a sliver Ford Galaxy – is believed to have been travelling northbound when it overturned onto its roof. The lorry, which was travelling southbound, then struck the overturned car as it passed. One of the occupants of the car, a 32-year-old man, was located at the scene with serious injuries and was taken to West Suffolk Hospital where he later sadly died. A police investigation into the incident has been ongoing and detectives have been working to identify any other potential occupants in the car. As a result of these enquiries, a 25-year-old man from the Ipswich area has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop after an accident. He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and has subsequently been released on bail until Wednesday 4 January, pending further enquiries. Officers would like to hear from any potential witnesses to the collision, or who might have seen anyone on foot in the area just after 10pm on Monday night. They are also asking anyone else who was driving in the area around the time of the incident and who has a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for anything that may be of assistance.
