A man has died following a road traffic collision on the A140 in Wetheringsett. Police were called at just after 10pm Monday night, 28 November, to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a car at Brockford Street. Ambulance and Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service crews, along with a critical care paramedic from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) were also in attendance. Following the initial collision investigation, it is currently thought that the car – a sliver Ford Galaxy – had been travelling northbound when it overturned onto its roof. The lorry, which was travelling southbound, then struck the overturned car as it passed. One of the occupants of the car was located at the scene with serious injuries and was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, where he later sadly died. Officers believe there was a second occupant in the car who left the scene and has not yet been located. Efforts to find this person are ongoing. The road was closed whilst the collision investigation work was undertaken and for recovery of the car, reopening at 9am on Tuesday 29th November. Officers would like to hear from any potential witnesses to the collision, or anyone that might have seen a lone person on foot in the area just after 10pm. There are also asking anyone else who was driving in the area just prior to the incident and who has a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for anything that may be of assistance. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Joint Norfolk & Suffolk Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting reference: 37/75605/22.
