Due to the bad weather the Bath Half Marathon that John Kirkum and his daughter Lucy were due to be running in on March 4th morning was cancelled. The City was affected by heavy snowfall on Thursday afternoon and evening, with further snow and freezing temperatures expected through to Sunday. They have both been preparing and looking forward to it for so long, this is the first time it has ever been cancelled and we are both extremely disappointed.
They have raised £1,066 for Cancer Research UK and Rethink Mental Illness and are both very grateful for everyone's donations. Although the race is no longer going to go ahead they are still determined to run the distance together and therefore have decided to hold our very own "Horham Half" through the lanes of Suffolk and to run the distance together this coming Easter Monday (April 2nd).
John also entered the Ipswich Half Marathon in September to compensate for missing out on this opportunity. It should be easier to get to and hopefully no chance of snow!
Click on Horham Half to see their route, which takes them through Redlingfield.
