Elderly residents are urged to be aware of a company who supply medical treatments, beds and chairs. The cost of these items run into thousands of pounds and it appears that the company are purchasing potential customers details online and then either ringing to make an appointment, explaining that they are providing therapies recommended to assist various ailments, i.e. physiotherapy, or suggesting that they are getting in touch because of a referral from the local GP surgery.

Two weeks ago, an elderly couple who live in Stradbroke were contacted, and thinking that the GP Surgery had arranged the visit booked an appointment.

It transpired that a woman turned up with no identification and had not been sent by the surgery but had somehow obtained personal details online and had enough information to suggest that they suffered from particular ailments.

The sales lady was described as very pushy and difficult, who explained the company were seeking to expand sales in the area and she sold essentially medical beds and chairs, the beds cost £20,000.

In any event the callers leave no business card, the number provided is not answered and if a purchase is made either the customer keeps the unwanted item or it takes months to secure any redress.

Trading standards are aware of the company, and any concerns are to be addressed to them via the Suffolk County Council website.
