Minutes Special Redlingfield Parish Meeting on Tuesday 24th August at Horham & Athelington Community Centre starting at 7.30 pm

The meeting was called after nine electors formally requested in writing that the meeting takes place – in accordance with standing orders.

Item 1.

Vote on absentee ballots to be allowed. Carried by majority show of hands. 13 absentee ballots received. (These ballots were not counted as the vote for Chair was overwhelming).

Item 2. Election of new Chair of Redlingfield Parish Meeting:
Midge Gibbons proposed by Trevor Edwards. Seconded by Linda Hudson & Neville Butcher (simultaneously). Voted on by show of hands. For: 27    Abstentions: 4.

Item 3.

Having been elected Midge Gibbons took over as Chair of the Meeting and thanked Elizabeth Gibson-Harries.

Midge reminded people of all the upcoming events (listed below) and especially mentioned the inauguration of the new Defibrillator in the phone box at 11.30 am on Wednesday 1st September.

On behalf of the Parish, Midge thanked Ian Winter for his fundraising efforts as well as all the generous villagers who donated to his appeal. This was applauded. The final figures are still being put together but more than £3,300 has been donated - of which £2,150 has been spent getting the Defibrillator running and installed in the phone box.

Next Village Committee Meeting is 9th February 2022 to set dates for the year.

Katie Abbott asked the meeting to thank Janet & Mike for their generosity and hard work, over a number of years, for the village, the meeting agreed and they were given a round of applause.
